The menu is a highlighting element of your restaurant's concept. It should have carefully chosen colors and the arrangement of dishes/products. Depending on your restaurant's theme, you can select paper, laminate, additional coatings for a more refined look, as well as the appropriate size. The menu is available in several sizes, one of which is the specialized DL 99x210mm size (an A4 sheet folded into two panels), which can be folded in a Z-shape or U-shape. The standard sizes you can choose from are with a single fold:

·         A4 (210x297mm)

·         A5 (148x210mm)

We also offer non-standard sizes with longer sides without folding – 70x150mm and 100x250mm.

Your customers won't be able to resist the temptation!

What size is suitable for a menu? – The most commonly used size for menus is DL 99x210mm and A4 (210x297mm, unfolded A3) with one fold.

What is the DL 99x210mm size? – The DL 99x210mm size is an A4 sheet folded into two panels in a Z-shape or U-shape (three equal parts of A4). This size is primarily used for leaflets and menus and is recommended to be printed double-sided to contain more information for your business needs.

What type of paper is suitable for a menu? – The paper that fits a menu is double-sided chrome matte/glossy 170-250 gsm. When adding a laminate, we recommend choosing 250-350 gsm chrome matte/glossy to hold the coating.

Why does the DL size have 6 sides, and the single fold has 4 sides? – The reason for the sides in these sizes is due to the folding. The DL size is folded into two panels, but they form wings that overlap in a Z-shape (the sides are counted as internal and external, forming 3 external sides and 3 internal sides, a total of 6). Meanwhile, the single fold has 4 sides because there are 2 internal and 2 external sides.

Before sending your file for printing, you need to follow a few requirements. Regardless of the design program you use, when exporting or saving the file, pay attention to:
  • Color – When exporting, select CMYK as the color model;
  • Resolution – The file resolution should be at least 96 or ideally 300 dpi;
  • File – Preferably export in PDF or, if there is an issue, also in JPG, PNG, TIFF, EPS;
  • Text – The font size should be at least 8 pt to be readable on the print. Let's act boldly!
  • Lines – Minimum line thickness of 0.5 pt (1/2 pt) to be visible on the print;
  • Printable area – When printing and cutting to the exact size with an outline, leave at least 2 mm on each side of the image background to avoid a white border upon cutting or affecting the design. Keep in mind that the cutting line should be along the entire length of the print and be visually visible 2 mm inside (with a distinguishable color from the print – e.g., a yellow outline on a dark background).
