Leaflets are sheet advertising materials, primarily handed out directly to consumers by hand or through commercial outlets. They are offered in various sizes, one of which is the specialized size DL 99x210mm (folded A4 sheet into two creases), which allows for Z-fold and tri-fold formats. The remaining sizes you can choose from are standard:

·         A4 (210x297mm)

·         A5 (148x210mm)

·         A6 (105x148mm)

What size is suitable for a leaflet? – The most common size for leaflets is DL 99x210mm and A5 (148x210mm, unfolded A4) with one crease.

What is the DL 99x210mm size? – The size DL 99x210mm represents a folded A4 sheet into two creases in the shape of a Z or P (three equal parts folded from A4). This size is mainly used for leaflets and menus and is recommended to be printed double-sided to accommodate more business information.

What type of paper is suitable for a leaflet? – The paper suitable for leaflets is double-sided coated matte/glossy 130-150 gsm. If adding lamination, we recommend opting for 170-200 gsm coated matte/glossy to maintain the coating.

Why does the DL size have 6 sides, while single folding has 4 sides? – The reason for the number of sides in these sizes is the folding. The DL size is folded into two creases, forming wings that overlap in a Z shape (the sides are counted as inner and outer, and when folded, there are 3 outer sides and 3 inner sides, totaling 6). Whereas with single folding, there are 4 sides, as there are 2 inner and 2 outer sides.

Before sending your file for printing, you need to follow a few requirements. Regardless of the design program you use, when exporting or saving the file, pay attention to:
  • Color – When exporting, select CMYK as the color model;
  • Resolution – The file resolution should be at least 96 or ideally 300 dpi;
  • File – Preferably export in PDF or, if there is an issue, also in JPG, PNG, TIFF, EPS;
  • Text – The font size should be at least 8 pt to be readable on the print. Let's act boldly!
  • Lines – Minimum line thickness of 0.5 pt (1/2 pt) to be visible on the print;
  • Printable area – When printing and cutting to the exact size with an outline, leave at least 2 mm on each side of the image background to avoid a white border upon cutting or affecting the design. Keep in mind that the cutting line should be along the entire length of the print and be visually visible 2 mm inside (with a distinguishable color from the print – e.g., a yellow outline on a dark background).
